Data Collection Notice by NHS Digital
Posted on 9 Jun 2021
We are receiving a number of communications from patients noting their 'Dissent from secondary use of GP patient identifiable data' either via a letter, email or opt out form. This is following a notice for NHS Digital in England for daily data collection under General Practice Data for Planning and Research (GPDPR) service.
This service does not presently apply to General Practice's in Wales only for patients residing in England. The increasing number of requests are likely due to the fact that English residence have until 23rd June to 'opt out' of this data collection.
Processing of personal information for this purpose does not currently apply to Welsh GP held data so any request to opt out would be invalid in Wales.
